MY SISTER is excited to announce a new series of small-group workshops designed to provide practical support for our community: Empowering Through Education. These classes, covering topics like finance & health, will be open to all and designed around what YOU want to learn (so send your suggestions our way)!
Our first class is…
Empowering Through Education: Personal Finance
If you’ve thought to yourself something along the lines of “I’d rather listen to Nicholas Cage narrating my dreams than balance my bank account” (but still know that you NEED to), this class is for you.
Learn how to quickly and easily create a realistic budget, and discover simple tools, tips, and tricks to take away the pain of planning. Pick the brain of a finance expert, and ask all the burning money questions that are on your mind in a supportive small group environment.
We know that talking about finances can be a vulnerable thing to do, (rest assured that attendees will not be put on the spot and numbers will be handled with discretion!), but we also believe that it’s important.
Economic freedom and financial independence keeps women safe and free:
- Financial abuse is experienced in 98% of abusive relationships and surveys of survivors reflect that concerns over their ability to provide financially for themselves was one of the top reasons for staying in or returning to a battering relationship.
- In many commercial sexual exploitation situations, traffickers use power and control dynamics to dominate the women in their control, including withholding/controlling their source of income.
- Even though women statistically live longer than men, women are less likely to have significant savings and investments to provide financial stability.
The full amount of your $10.00 class registration fee will be donated to MY SISTER’s anti-trafficking partners in the Twin Cities.
Join us to kick-start your financial health for 2017!
